As the federal government shutdown nears day 35, many federally funded assistance programs have been forced to pause operations, leaving countless families wondering how they’ll afford basic necessities like heat and electricity.
But one local organization says its doors remain open.
Since 1924, Northside Neighborhood House has helped Hamilton County residents navigate times of crisis, offering aid with housing, food, prescriptions, and utility bills.
“We meet clients in that moment of crisis,” said Jamison Shimmel, the Chief Stability Officer with Northside Neighborhood House. “We assist them in the stability department with that journey into long-term stability.”
