MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Voters across the region are heading to the polls on Tuesday to make their voices heard in local races.
With just a few hours left before polls close, turnout is expected to pick up as last-minute voters cast their ballots.
One of the biggest issues on the ballot is in Mecklenburg County, where residents are deciding whether to raise the local sales tax to help pay for new transit and road improvements.
Supporters said the proposal would ease traffic and expand public transportation, while opponents worry about the impact of higher costs on families and small businesses.
Stay tuned for updates and results as the votes start to come in.
