ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners has approved additional funding for their Real Change Project Connect Program.

According to a county news release, the program originally was provided $53,527 by the commission, but was granted an additional $36,179 after over 300 people were helped through the program.

The release said the program allowed the 300 people, including 13 children, to be reunited with their family and friends through free transportation.

The program was launched to help reduce homelessness by offering resources and assistance to individuals so that they are able to get back to their families and friends in an effort to get back on their feet.
