“Operation Lights Out” to keep kids safe from sex offenders

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Annually on Halloween night, Hampshire Superior Probation Officers make unannounced visits to the residences of more than 20 level two and level three sex offenders.

Operation Lights Out checks are made to prevent sex offenders from trying to draw children into their home as they trick or treat.

The team of officers made visits to Springfield, Holyoke, and West Springfield.
