MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - Submissions are now open for the 2026 World Championship Cheese Contest, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA).

According to a release, it's the 36th biennial competition, with over 3,300 entries in the most recent edition in 2024. The winner of that year's edition was Hornbacher, crafted by made by Michael Spycher of Mountain Dairy Fritzenhaus in Bern, Switzerland, for Gourmino AG.

The 2026 World Championship Cheese Contest will invite 150 classes of dairy products with entries judged by over 50 international judges. Scoring starts at 100 points with deductions based on defects in the following categories: • Body/Texture • Color • Finish • Flavor • Packaging • Salt
