NEWPORT NEWS — Christopher Newport University received two weekly awards on Monday from the New Jersey Athletic Conference following the Captains’ 49-42 home victory over Montclair State on Saturday. Junior quarterback Connor Barry was selected the Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, and freshman running back Drevyon Tharrington was named the Offensive Rookie of the Week for the third time.
Barry, from Vienna, Va., threw four touchdown passes and ran for a score as the Captains recorded their 13th consecutive victory dating back to last season. The junior completed 15 of 19 passes for 209 yards, and has now thrown for a single season school record of 30 scores this season with just two interceptions.Barry connected with senior Colin Hart on a 56-yard
