LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer ordered all flags to half-staff on Tuesday in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States under George W. Bush.
“Former Vice President Cheney was a dedicated public servant,” said Governor Whitmer. “From interning in Congress to serving as the Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney spent his life working for the American people. He was also a loving father, grandfather, and husband. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.”
Cheney died at 84-years-old.
He previously served in congress as a representative, as well as Secretary of Defense for George H.W. Bush, before serving as G.W. Bush’s Vice President.
