A pair of league champions - Leo Shostal of Warwick and Owen Shaffer-Sermini of Rondout Valley - won their respective class races and posted the top two overall finishing times at the Section 9 boys cross country championships at Warwick's Sanfordville Elementary on Nov. 4.

Jackson St. Lawrence of Goshen won the Class B race and Daniel McPherson of Pine Plains won the Class D race. Shostal won the A race in 15 minutes, 42.5 seconds on his home course. Shaffer-Sermini won the C race in 15:44.

Monroe-Woodbury (Class A), Cornwall (B), Mount Academy (C) and Tri-Valley (D) won the team titles and will send their entire squads to the Nov. 15 state championship meet at Queensbury High School. The top five finishers who are not members of the team champs also advance.
