After an alleged social media made claims against Senoia City Manager Harold Simmons, he requested the city council perform a forensic audit on the city's finances.
At the Senoia city council's work session on Monday night, Simmons told the council it should approve the audit if its members believe the allegations that city funds have been misappropriated or embezzled.
He also had a recommendation for an auditor that would cost $65,000.
Simmons added that he does not use social media so he hasn't seen the post in question.
"I don't think it's necessary because we haven't done anything wrong, but if people are believing that, I'd rather clear my name and have a forensic audit done," he said. "If mayor and council believes there is embezzlement or improprieties, I'd ask you all vote to h
