The veteran recognition project is a partnership of the Petrolia heritage advisory committee and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 216.

It has created lawn signs honouring 25 veterans and set them up at addresses where the individuals lived when they entered the service, or where family members live now.
Jean Bradshaw, on Joe Street, has a sign honouring her brothers – Ray, Earl, George, Lorne and Roy Luker – who served beginning in the 1950s.
“I jumped on it,” Bradshaw said about the project.
She said Petrolia has shown impressive support for the military and war efforts during the years.
“There are so many who signed up from here,” Bradshaw said.
