BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - As the government shutdown continues, The Brazos Valley Food Bank (BVFB) and United Way of the Brazos Valley hosted city, government, school, and nonprofit leaders at the BVFB Monday morning for an emergency meeting.

At the meeting, BVFB and United Way officials went over the current situation regarding Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) as the government looms towards the longest shutdown in U.S. history.

“What surprised me today was the number of people in Brazos County that the food bank and our local food pantry serve,” said Brazos Acting County Judge, Kyle Kacal. “We’re here together, working on a plan, and going to get the news out so everybody knows where to go if [the shutdown] continues.”
