A Harrisburg man died early Monday after veering off the Turnpike and crashing into a tree in Lebanon County, authorities said.
Eliot Clement, 56, was driving a 2010 Acura that crashed around 1 a.m. on Interstate 76 west at mile marker 259.1 in South Londonderry Township, according to the Lebanon County Coroner’s Office.
Clement went off the highway onto the north berm and grass shoulder, traveling 397 feet before crashing into a tree, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The Acura spun and caught fire, becoming fully engulfed, police said.
Police said the Lawn Fire Department extinguished the fire and found Clement in the driver’s seat. No one else was found in the vehicle.
Clement was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office said his cause and manner of death are pending test
