New York Jets running back Breece Hall (20) at MetLife Stadium.

The New York Jets drive a hard bargain.

They were in the selling mood on NFL trade deadline day, dealing Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys. While those trades certainly stole headlines, one player who wasn't is stealing even more.

Breece Hall wasn't packing his bags after the Nov. 4 deadline came and went, but he could've been. According to SNY's Connor Hughes, the Jets had an offer on the table that never materialized.

"With Breece Hall, there was an offer on the table for a fourth-round pick for Breece Hall," Hughes said. "I was told it was from the Kansas City Chiefs that were willing to trade for Breece Hall. The Jets were steadfast in wanting a third."

It's a deal that would've made sense for both sides, especially given where the Jets are in their latest rebuild effort.

Kansas City is dealing with a running back room that doesn't include Isiah Pacheco, who is out with a knee injury. While he could return in the coming weeks, Hall would've been a weapon that could do it all for Andy Reid's team.

A capable running and receiving option, the Jets clearly felt that Hall was more valuable on the trade market and decided to hold out for more.

That never came though and now Hall is headed for free agency after the season. It's unclear if he or the Jets are willing to extend their relationship beyond the 2025 season, further complicating matters.

The franchise tag remains an option for New York if they can't agree on a long-term deal, however.

Given the Jets' unwillingness to trade Hall for anything less than a third-round pick, perhaps there is some insight into the team's offseason plans.
