SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — The Slidell Police Department recognized a Good Samaritan who gave an officer a lift in her car to chase down a suspected shoplifter.

Lesli Smith was driving in the parking lot of the Fremaux Center Saturday, Nov. 1, when she saw an officer trying to chase down the suspect, so she opened the passenger door of her car and let the officer hop in.

In addition to their gratitude, the SPD gave Smith the department's Award for Citizenship.
