AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Agawam residents will be voting on contested races for city council and the school committee.
Agawam does not have a contested mayoral election this year. Mayor Christopher Johnson is unopposed for his bid for another two-year term in office. Agawam has an 11-member City Council, which is elected entirely at-large.
All 11 incumbents are seeking re-election this year, with five challengers also hoping to make it onto the council. There are also seven candidates on the ballot for the six-member Agawam School Committee. 22News spoke with voters at the James Clark School about why voting is more than just about themselves.
