SWANSBORO, N.C. (WITN) - As the ongoing shutdown prevents SNAP benefit pay-outs, the Town of Swansboro is teaming up with the Onslow Community Outreach to accept nonperishable food donations for those in need.
To ensure timely deliveries, volunteers are encouraged to donate shelf-stable food from now through November 14th.
“This is a time for our community to come together and support one another,” said Mayor William Justice. “Every donation makes a difference.”
The town emphasizes that this is a collection-only effort, and the Onslow Community Outreach will distribute the donations.
Donors can drop off food at the Swansboro Town Hall, located at 601 West Corbett Avenue.
The town hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
