WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be lowered across the state in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Cheney died Monday from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease; he was 84. Kelly's executive order asks flags to remain lowered until sundown on the day of interment for Cheney.
“Vice President Cheney spent his life in service to our nation and was renowned for both his deep knowledge and commitment,” Kelly said in a news release. “His legacy will reflect his work to reshape the vice presidency and his conviction to upholding the ideals that the United States was founded upon. My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this challenging time.”
