A threat directed at a Dauphin County polling station temporarily caused a lockdown at an elementary school that ended up with about 20 voters being turned away, volunteers told PennLive.

The threat at Paxtonia Elementary in Lower Paxton Township was received about 3 p.m., causing an administrative lockdown for about 17 minutes.

Students were not in the school Tuesday as it was an in-service day for staff. School officials said they did not release staff early because of the threat.

Volunteers told PennLive about 20 people could not vote during the brief lockdown of the school.
