LSU is naming Verge Ausberry as its full-time athletic director, less than a week after he was put in place as the interim after the ouster of Scott Woodward, multiple sources told The Advocate on Tuesday.
The decision was made by new LSU president Wade Rousse , who was elected Tuesday by the LSU board of supervisors. A formal announcement is expected in the coming days.
Ausberry, a former LSU linebacker and New Iberia native, has served within the athletic department for 24 years. For the past six years, he was the executive deputy athletic director. Among his responsibilities, Ausberry handled football scheduling.
After Woodward and the school parted ways last Thursday night, Ausberry was put in charge of the search committee for LSU’s next head football coach to replace Brian Kel
