Democrat incumbent Del. Cliff Hayes secured another two-year term in his uncontested race to represent Virginia House District 91. Vote tallies are unofficial until they are finalized after the election is canvassed and certified in the coming weeks.
District 91 covers parts of Chesapeake and Portsmouth. Chesapeake makes up 85% of the strong Democratic leaning district. Hayes has served the 91st District since 2016. Before that, he was a member of the Chesapeake City Council from 2004 to 2012.
Hayes, who works as the city of Portsmouth’s technology director, previously said his top priorities include expanding broadband and strengthening Virginia’s digital infrastructure.
