The Second phase of Election Commissions’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), commonly known as voters’ list clean-up exercise, has begun in nine states and three Union territories from Tuesday, November 4.

The move comes two days before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls, where over 65 lakh names were deleted from the electoral rolls following verification.

Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are among the nine states where the SIR is being conducted in the second round.

The other states include Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Gujarat, along with three Union Territories Puducherry, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.
