A group of local governments in Western Australia's Murchison has backed calls for further investment in water infrastructure due to issues with the quality of scheme water.

Mid-West MP Shane Love told parliament last month that residents in Sandstone, Mount Magnet, Cue and Yalgoo had approached him with concerns about the quality of drinking water.

The Water Corporation assured residents their drinking water was safe and compliant with Australian standards and said any claims to the contrary were false.

Additionally, the spokesperson pointed to recent investment in the region.

"Salinity, hardness and nitrates in drinking water supplied to Murchison communities has improved significantly since the completion of a $25.7 million program in 2022," a spokesperson said.
