For the first time in team history, Vermont field hockey won the America East regular season title courtesy of its 4-1 record in conference play. Before claiming the top seed in 2025, the Catamounts never finished higher than third place in the conference . Vermont has only finished third on three occasions (1991, 2007 and 2018).
The Catamounts rode that momentum into a semifinal match against No. 5 Maine Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the first home postseason match in program history. Vermont was tested, needing to go to a shootout after 80 minutes of scoreless play. The Catamounts got the job done, though, edging Maine 3-1 in both team's first shootout of the season.
