FREMONT, Ohio — A woman from northwest Ohio was honored with a state award on Tuesday for surviving a car crash last month because she was wearing her seatbelt.
Amy Craun, of Northwood, received the Ohio State Highway Patrol's "Saved by the Belt" award after she avoided life-threatening injuries on Sept. 11 in a crash in southwestern Sandusky County.
“Amy is a living testimony to the effectiveness of safety belts,” OSHP Sgt. Matthew Davis said in a press release. “Everyone needs to buckle up every trip, every time.”
Craun also received an honorary license plate as part of the award, which OSHP and the Ohio Department of Public Safety created to recognize people who make life-saving decisions to wear safety belts.
