The 2025 NYC Mayor’s Race is destined for history, regardless of who wins the election.
More than 1.7 million New Yorkers have already voted in the contest between Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, independent candidate and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. The NYC Board of Elections reported just moments before polls closed at 9 p.m. that it had received 2 million voters in this election — the largest turnout in a mayor’s race since 1969.
