Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) shaded President Donald Trump with several not-so-subtle references in her Virginia gubernatorial victory speech, telling the crowd, “Tonight, we sent a message!”
The former congresswoman defeated Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears with an early call Tuesday night, less than half an hour after the polls closed.
Spanberger took the stage about an hour later to applause from supporters and delivered a speech that took a few oblique shots at Trump — without mentioning his name.
