Former Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes released a statement after the city council voted not to reappoint him during a meeting Monday night.

City council officials appointed Sgt. Jason Wigginton as the city's new police chief.

Holmes released this statement following Monday night's city council meeting:

"I would like to express my gratitude to Mayor Sam Heflin for the privilege of leading the department since May 2022. I sincerely appreciate the dedication and hard work of each officer, whose efforts contribute daily to ensuring that Priceville remains a safe and welcoming community. Congratulations to my successor Chief Jason Wigginton; I wish him continued success in his new role."

Wigginton will serve the next four years as police chief.
