CORTLAND Voters in Cortland have decided to pass a 1.5 mill levy for the city's police department.
The levy, which will cost homeowners an extra $53 per $100,000 of their property value, is necessary to maintain services and personnel for the department that grants and other donations won't cover.
The levy is expected to generate $315,673 for the department.
This levy was introduced after voters rejected a 2.5 mill levy that would have helped the department hire additional full-time officers.
