DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Danville City Council unanimously approved two new agreements for the police department Tuesday night.
The first forms a partnership between the Danville Area Community College and the police department.
As part of the agreement, the department will participate in college events and help students with their career paths. Students, on the other hand, will get the chance to shadow officers in the field and train at the department’s facilities.
The agreement will remain in effect for three years.
The city council also approved a $515,500 purchase for body worn cameras, squad video cameras and more. The five-year plan will cost the city $65,000 the first year. In the second fiscal year, it'll cost almost $190,000 and then each year after that it'll cost the cit
