JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Louisiana State Police are investigating two separate Monday night fatal crashes in Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes that left two men dead.

Around 7 p.m., troopers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on LA 48 near Labarre Road. Investigators say 79-year-old Phillip Harris of Harahan was crossing in the pedestrian crosswalk when he was hit by a 2007 Toyota Tundra going through the intersection on a green light.

Harris was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Impairment is unknown at this time.

Toxicology results are pending.
