RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — Republican Mitchell Cornett has won the race for the Virginia House of Delegates District 46 seat, according to election results Tuesday night.

Cornett faced Democrat Jamie Hendry for the seat previously held by Del. Jonathan "Jed" Arnold.

Cornett is a cattle farmer, volunteer firefighter, paramedic, and county supervisor in Grayson County.

District 46 consists of Grayson, Smyth, and Wythe counties and part of Pulaski County.
