HERMITAGE - The Mercer County Food Bank opens its annual "Truck-full of Hope" at the Diehl Chevrolet in Hermitage for an eighth year to collect non-perishable food items for those in need of food assistance. The Mercer County Food Bank partnered with the auto center to collect non-perishable items.
Executive Director Rebecca Page says the food bank feeds around thirteen thousand Mercer County residents per month.
"We have been experiencing about a hundred calls per day for emergency food assistance from people who have never had to use a food pantry or a soup kitchen," she said.
Page says it is important for the community to come together to help those in need.
"We always say it takes a community to feed a community," she said.
