CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A bond proposal for the Cedar Rapids Community School District has failed to pass.

The $117 million bond proposal was a heavily revised version of a $220 million bond referendum that failed in 2023.

The bond needed 60% support to pass. According to unofficial results from the Linn County Auditor’s office, the bond only received 59.3%.

The bond would have paid for renovations and updates at multiple schools including McKinley, Roosevelt Middle School, Wilson Middle School, and Kennedy High School. Many of the renovations focused on updating historic buildings, and improving security and ADA compliance.
