An ex-serviceman has cut hundreds of pounds from his island neighbours’ energy bills by making their homes warmer and greener.
Scott Watson, a former RAF military analyst, grew up in Cumbrae off the coast of Ayrshire and, since returning home, is a man on a mission.
Scott, 40, now works as an energy assessor for the Scottish Government-funded Carbon Neutral Islands (CNI) scheme aimed at making six islands – including Cumbrae – net zero by 2040.
Barra and Vatersay, Hoy, Islay, Raasay and Yell are the other isles involved in the project.
Scott claims to have saved householders in his hometown of Millport up to £700 a year on their energy bills thanks to a drive to install solar panels and upgrade insulation.
