ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The debate over Alexandria’s council district boundaries continued on November 4 as residents addressed city leaders during a public hearing at City Hall.
At issue is whether the city should reverse the district map changes approved in April 2024. Those changes impacted Districts 2, 3 and 4 and were backed by District 4 Councilwoman Lizzie Felter.
However, new legislation introduced two weeks ago by Council President Cynthia Perry would restore the previous district boundaries from 2022, effectively undoing the 2024 changes.
During the hearing, several residents questioned the motives behind the original redistricting decision.
