GREENVILLE, S.C. —
Voters in Greenville have selected the newest city council member, Tina Belge.
Belge beat Matt Alexander in Tuesday's municipal election.
"The priorities for my campaign were the same as those in the Greenville 2040 plan: housing that's actually affordable for people, transit that works, reducing traffic, protecting our open space and trees, and accessible childcare, which we added to our campaign. We have a major childcare desert in our city. So I'm looking forward to doing work around those four things," Belge says.
She spoke about what the first steps will be after Tuesday's election.
"Certainly getting with my fellow council members and mayor staff, I'm really fortunate to already have a lot of relationships with them over the years, having worked at the county
