WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – The debate over fireworks in the Tri-Cities is intensifying as Kennewick leaders plan to discuss their stance on West Richland's potential ban on aerial fireworks.

Kennewick Mayor Gretl Crawford has expressed her support for West Richland's consideration of the ban. In a letter sent today, Crawford emphasized that a regional ban would create consistent fireworks regulations across Benton County and reduce confusion for residents celebrating across city lines.

Both Kennewick and Richland already prohibit aerial fireworks. City officials have noted that these restrictions have decreased fire danger and lessened the strain on emergency responders during the Fourth of July.
