DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The voters of Duluth voted “yes” to pass the Tenant Right to Repair in Residential Rental Property Ordinance on Tuesday.
Out of 34 precincts, 68.89% of voters voted yes on the ordinance.
Question 1 on the ballot — known as the Right to Repair ordinance — allows tenants to arrange and pay for certain minor repairs if a landlord doesn’t respond to a maintenance request within two weeks.
Members of the Duluth Tenants Union, who helped spearhead the effort, say the ordinance is about giving renters more control over their living conditions.
