At least four people were killed on Wednesday after being struck by an oncoming train while they were crossing a railway track in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur. The incident occurred after the victims had just alighted from a separate train.

According to railway officials, the victims had alighted from the Chopan-Prayagraj Express on the side opposite the platform at the Chunar junction. As they attempted to cross the tracks, they were struck by another train, the Howrah-Kalka Netaji Express, coming from the opposite direction.

Officials noted that the victims were supposed to deboard on the platform side but chose to cross the tracks, leading to the accident.
