The POCSO act is being misused in cases of marital discord and consensual relationships, the Supreme Court said on Tuesday while stressing need to spread awareness in men about legal provisions. A bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and R Mahadevan was hearing a PIL seeking directions to sensitise people about penal provisions for rape and POCSO Act to make country a better place for women.

First wife’s consent must for 2nd marriage: HC

The Kerala HC has ruled that if a Muslim man wants to register second marriage under Kerala Registration of Marriages (Common) Rules 2008, while his earlier one is still in existence, first wife should also be heard if she is agreeable to it or not. PTI
