A Queensland mother has furiously called out the state government after parents were asked which gender pronouns they nominate for their children entering kindergarten.

In consent forms sent out by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA), parents have been asked to nominate the preferred pronouns for their four- and five-year-old children ahead of them attending kindergarten.

Of the current kindergarten cohort across the state, the forms returned 46 responses from parents to have their children referred to as "they/them", The Australian reported.

The QCAA introduced the policy of asking the specific pronouns of children under the previous Labor government.
