New York City’s newly elected mayor, Zohran Mamdani , during his victory speech on Wednesday, launched a scathing attack on US President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown across the country and said New York will remain the city of immigrants.

“New York will remain the city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, clearly led by an immigrant," he said.

Also taking a direct swipe at the US President, Mamdani, amid a thunderous applause from supporters gathered to celebrate his historic win, said, “So, Donald Trump, since I know you are watching, I have four words for you, Turn the volume UP!"
