BURTON, MI -- A pair of former Burton City Council members will return to the governing body following Tuesday’s election.

Tina Conley and Ellen Ellenburg will return to the council, along with newcomer Kris Johns, ousting a pair of incumbents on the ballot.

Ellenburg led the way during the Nov. 4 election with 1,973 votes, followed by Conley with 1,853 votes, and Johns coming in third with 1,660 votes, according to unofficial results from the Genesee County Clerk’s Office .

Incumbents Greg Hull and Christina Fitchett-Hickson garnered 1,217 votes and 1,173 votes, respectively, while challenger Don Jones took home 940 votes. There were also 21 unassigned write-in votes.
