MOORHEAD — The Moorhead school district is celebrating a win at the same time a neighboring district is experiencing defeat in special elections aimed at bridging growing budget gaps .
On Tuesday, Nov. 4, voters in Moorhead Area Public Schools approved a two-question referendum that will fend off additional budget cuts and larger class sizes, while voters in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton rejected their operating levy.
Polls closed at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Moorhead district released unofficial results at about 11:40 p.m.
The district said 4,206 people voted in favor and 2,799 people voted against question one, a $4.37 million operating levy in effect for 10 years, with funds going toward teacher and staff salaries, supplies, program costs, utilities and maintenance.
