Former Minnesota Vikings legend Jared Allen wasted no time making his presence felt during his Grand Slam of Curling debut at the KIOTI GSOC Tahoe event in Stateline, Nev., on Tuesday.

Whether it was the shots Allen made or the viral moment of him being too strong for a curling broom, the NFL Hall of Famer had an impressive debut despite dropping his opening match against Scotland’s Team Ross Whyte 10-9 in a shootout.

Allen wasn’t the only story, however, as the altitude in Lake Tahoe was a conversation all day as the curlers were getting used to playing 6,200 feet above sea level.

As a result, the opening day delivered some crazy games.
