For the first time in six years there’s a new men’s champion at the Rim Rock Marathon.

Max Robinson, a local middle school physical education teacher, won the race for five straight years. But this year, Robinson wasn’t in the field.

Whit Blair, 27, was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 2 hours, 47 minutes and.48.4 seconds after the race on Sunday.

Bob Davis, 42, was second in 3:08.44.2.

Even though there was no repeat winner in the men’s race, Careth Arnold made it two straight titles in the women’s race.

The 35-year-old won the race with a time of 3:13.37.9, which was good for third overall.

Former Fruita Monument cross country star Jadyn Heil, 22, was second at 3:26.24.4, good for seventh overall.

The full marathon, 26.2 miles, drew a total of 101 runners.
