Jahanara Alam, a pacer for the Bangladesh women’s cricket team who is currently out of favour, has accused captain Nigar Sultana Joty of physically assaulting junior players. However, these allegations have been dismissed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as “baseless and unfortunate."
In an interview with the Bangladesh daily ‘Kaler Kantho’, Alam made a series of serious accusations against the current captain, some teammates, the coaching staff, and team management. These allegations followed the team’s seventh-place finish at the recent Women’s ODI World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
“This is nothing new. Joty beats up the juniors a lot," Alam stated in the interview. “Even during this World Cup, the juniors told me, ‘No, I won’t do this again. Then I’ll have to get slapped again.’
