SARATOGA SPRINGS — In the contest for Saratoga Springs mayor, John Safford (R, One Saratoga) emerged victorious in his reelection bid over Democratic challenger Michele Madigan.

Safford received 4,318 votes to Madigan’s 4,031, according to unofficial results posted by the county Board of Elections on Tuesday. The narrow margin of victory led Madigan to ponder her options moving forward.
