Zoho’s homegrown messaging platform Arattai has fallen out of India’s top 100 apps on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store, just weeks after briefly dethroning WhatsApp to take the top spot.

As of November 4, Arattai ranked 105th on Google Play and 123rd on the App Store in India, a steep decline from mid-October when it briefly topped both charts. Based on combined rankings that include both apps and games, it now sits 150th on Google Play and 128th on the App Store, according to a Moneycontrol report.

The Tamil word Arattai translates to "casual talk" or "chit-chat." The app was launched in 2021 by Chennai-based Zoho Corp during the uproar over WhatsApp’s privacy policy update. It is part of Zoho’s consumer products portfolio, which also includes the privacy-focused browser Ulaa.
