In a shocking case of deception, several Srinagar-based gold and copper dealers have alleged that a woman cheated them of ornaments worth over ₹17 lakh using fake cheques and false promises.

During a press conference, the victims — owners of Shah-e-Hamdan Ornaments (Lal Bazar), Maqdoomi Zevraat (Nawa Kadal), and Zarger Jewellers (Soura) — revealed how the accused posed as a customer, took ornaments on pretext of showing them to family, and vanished. Police have registered FIRs and initiated investigations into the alleged fraud.
